Rolling Thunder and
Ocala Harley Davidson Benefit
for Sgt. John Borders
April 12, 2008
Several hundred bikers turned out for the Sgt. John Borders Benefit. John was wounded in Iraq in 2006 when an IUD exploded under him. Not only did he lose his leg and severally damage the other, he also crushed his insides as well. He has had several surgeries since then. His wife, Mollie, is originally from Ocala, and they are moving back so Rolling Thunder out of Washington, DC and Ocala Harley Davidson got together to give him a big welcome home and raise a little money for him. You can get the full story at www.copiaevents.com. It was a great day weather wise and we met so many giving, generous people. There was a silent auction with about 50 items including a signed guitar from the Ozbornes, tickets to Jimmy Buffet, Poison, Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood Jacket and much more. A raffle table had about 80 items and thanks to all of the local businesses who so generously gave. (click here for the list of donors - Please support them. too! ) There was also a 50/50 money pot and they earned about a $1,000.00 or more, the Hooters Girls were serving beer and donated all of their tips which were close to $700.00. A Food concession was there where you donate to eat.
