Webcam 3-8-08 Bellamy Brother Concert and Randall Z Band - Broken Spoke - Ormond Beach
The Bellamy’s are driving 950 miles one way to be here and have to turn around and drive right back to their gig out west. Randall Z Band is driving from Nebraska, Sturgis..you name it to be here for one show! Now that’s dedication. So come out and support them.
Bikers out and about all day. Speedway was packed and a beautiful but windy day.
Randall Z Band arrived in Ocala after a 25 hour drive to get here. Great guys, Randall, Ed, Ron, Bruce, TJ & Randall’s son, Ross. They crashed at my home and we all had a great time watching “Tenacious D” that they brought with them.
What a show last night at The Broken Spoke. The Bellamy’s arrived by bus about 3 pm and got stuck on US 1. The trailer ball dug into the road and got stuck. One lane of traffic was blocked. Quickly, Wally & his Bellamy crew along with Pete, manager of the Broken Spoke, unhitched the trailer and hand wheeled it into the Spoke. Then they hooked it up to a truck to take it up to the stage.
Randall Z Band came on at 7 pm and were surprisingly awesome. What a connection with the crowd and a complete showman. I finally got to see them live after all of these months listening to their CD’s. A Great Talent, Mover & Shaker! The Audience was Rocking.
There was a break and the National Anthem was played on the sax by Rick Cronce. Fantastic Treat!
We offer an apology to the Amvets Post 13 who could not stay for their flag ceremony due to the cold weather. The Amvets traveled all the way from Deland and showed tremendous commitment to be here. We should have had them on at 7 pm like they had originally planned. They arrived early and were ready to go, but for some reason the time was changed on them to 9 pm and it was freezing. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience we caused them. However, they will be receiving 10% of the gross receipts at the gate. Even though we lost money on the concert, we will still honor Amvets Post 13 with a check for $764.60 plus we donated the band The Flashback Rockers for 8 days of bikeweek to their hall. We thank the AmvetsPost 13 for all of their efforts in helping to put up posters for the concert and their gracious hospitality whenever we were at the hall. Special Thanks to Cooter & Grumpy.
Finally, the Bellamy Brothers came on to a crowd of about 1500 who braved the cold. Thank you fans ! It was awesome. The crowd was huddled around the stage and really into it. Girls dancing on the bar and rockin’ to Redneck Girl , Kids of the Baby Boom, Let your Love Flow, If I said you had a Beautiful Body would you hold it Against Me & More. Cheering & Dancing All over the Place. Us 1 may have been empty, but The Broken Spoke was in full form with a huge crowd for the last night and considering the weather. Broken Spoke does it again!
First and foremost, thanks to the AmvetsPost 13 for their Love & Support. Thanks to the Bellamy Brothers for traveling off tour 950 miles just to be here. Thanks to the Randall Z Band for traveling 25 hours straight and back. Thanks to Jay Allen & Staff at The Broken Spoke for their spectacular venue. Thanks to the fans who braved the cold to be there and stay there...in true biker fashion...committed to the end. We hope to bring you more concerts in the future.
